What is a Brow Lift?

As we age, our eyebrows tend to droop.  This can cause our face to look tired, sad or angry.  Brow lifts, also referred to as Forehead lifts, reverse this process, restoring a more youthful, rested appearance to both the eyebrows and upper lids.

Reasons for Considering a Brow Lift or Forehead Lift

  • To reposition a low or sagging brow, commonly referred to as a heavy brow
  • To improve brow furrows or frown lines due to aging and muscular activity

The General Procedure

Using his expertise and the advanced techniques, Dr. Leech will perform the endoscopic brow lift to rejuvenate your upper face and forehead.  This involves making tiny, hidden holes in the scalp, and inserting a microscopic, pencil-like camera to view and elevate the muscles and tissues beneath the skin.

For patients with more extensive aging face concerns, Dr. Leech may perform the traditional brow lift that involves a larger incision that is also well-hidden.  Both procedures will ensure a more youthful appearance to the brow area.

A brow lift is often performed in conjunction with facelift or eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) procedures to rejuvenate their entire face. Sometimes, patients who believe they need upper-eyelid surgery find that the brow lift procedure may better meet their surgical needs.

Patients who are bald, have a receding hairline, or who have had previous upper-eyelid surgery may still be good candidates for a brow lift.  In this case, Dr. Leech will alter the incision location or perform a more conservative operation.

Brow lift surgery is a performed in an outpatient surgery center under intravenous “twilight” sedation.

Recovery Process

Post-operatively, you will be discharged home and carefully re-evaluated the next morning.  Patients are able to return to their daily routines within a week, but recovery periods can vary depending on the individual and the nature of the surgery performed.
